Hey, you know what? There is no party like a Columbus party, because a Columbus party don't stop.......

Anywho, I love the idea of Columbus as a stomping ground for the first ever (and hopefully never ending) Chandre-Kotowski-Dudley-Jones-Quakenbush reunion.

I am, of course, asking for those of the hinterland (Linda, Tom, Tom) to develop a rough estimate of things to do. I have no problem driving through the bastard Illinois drivers to eventually end in a lovefest in Columbus.

As an aside, there are few places I hold in higher regard than Blacksburg, VA. I would like to lobby for that location next year. I have walked the Appalachian trail through the town, have many friends through my Charlotte years, and have general love for their college atmosphere and southern Madison feel. Yep, Madison feel.

As for Quakenbush, I have no idea. Hold me to nothing and you will not be disappointed. My son has begun contruction on some sorta dinosaur abomination to honor the first ever reunion.

Hi All!

We have talked about Columbus, IN for our renunion, and I really like that idea. Jeff and Chelsie both started new jobs in January and have very limited vacation time(none), but can get a few days. You mentioned Blacksburg, and I was interested in finding out what we could do there and what kind of accomadations would be available. Comments???

The 'where' doesn't matter that much to me. I think we're better off just picking a location and going with it. Have someone local will be helpful for planning, and something that's easy for the majority is right in line with what I feel we need.

Hi All, I would be most interested in Columbus this year. With my kids the age they are, I would prefer not to fly and Columbus is about the limit on driving. I envision a 4 day weekend (Th thru Sun) with Fri night and Sat being the main focus. The other days could be travel or extra time.

How about June or August?

While in Real Estate it may be Location, Location, Location, here it has to be Date, Date, Date.
Let's settle on Columbus, and work on Dates. We could focus on a Saturday Three Leg Race and build a weekend around that. So, if every family could submit a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd weekend that is possible for them we can start to narrow the timing down. I will send out a spreadsheet with calendar and choice options that we can review. I'm excited about this.

here is a link to the Abe Martin lodge & cabins at Brown County State park, which is just 15 mi from our house. It is a beautiful park and lodging is considered excellent. http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/inns/abe/
Take a look & let me know so I can start checking prices & making reservations. They go quickly.
There are also camping facilities, horse back riding, lakes, fishing. Columbus has a wonderful childrens interactive KidsCommens. Zaharakos ice cream parlor, beautifully renovated from the turn of the century. We have architecural tours. For those interested we have the Indiana Live casino a mere 45 minutes away. Nashville in Brown County is a lovely town with antiques shops, specialty shops, a theater with plays starring IU students. Ceraland is a huge park that Cummins employees & retirees have access to.
